The Supermarket Recovery Program

“The Supermarket Recovery Program (SRP) is the first of its kind in Canada and offers a unique and sustainable solution to the problems of food waste and food insecurity, in partnership with food retailers.”

The SRP is a system in place in Quebec in alliance with the Food Banks as well as in ” collaboration of Provigo, Maxi, Metro, Super C and IGA stores.” And basically it’s a program to reduce food waste and helping feed the hungry, “win-win situation for both supermarkets and families”.

When I came across this program I was incredibly excited because this is the exact type of thing we’re trying to implement throughout Canada with our final solution. Also the facts that it’s already successfully working out in Canada is a great victory, an proves it can be done throughout the rest of Canada. Hopefully we will see a continued success with the program!
